Thanks Shojo-Chan and Anna. Your fitting notes have been very helpful. I know I'm not the only one expecting a Mirwen and looking for this information.

Your photographs are very helpful too. I'm always amazed at how different the wigs can look on various dolls and in the hands of individual owners. In the pictures you two have taken the wigs look much better than they do in the online photos I've seen. I've even noticed huge differences between the photos used at FacetsbyMaria and at the Monique Trading Corp.

 

The Ginger wig on my picture was bought direct from Monique a few weeks before Mirwen's arrival and never worn. The curls are nowhere near as tight as shown on the Monique site. I find that with Monique wigs, the "official" photos are not very accurate, unless it's for their straight wigs.

 

I quite like the softer, looser curls. I would think that was a happy "different than shown"? So what wig did your Mirwen end up with in the end?

 

I like the softer curls as well. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened it. My Mirwen is still in search of the perfect wig, sadly. I want a black wig for her, but have been unable to find the right one.

 

I do think the black wigs look great on Mirwen. Perhaps it's because of the colour of her eyebrows on the default faceup? I'll have a little more leeway though because I'm getting a custom faceup done and it can be made to match whichever wig I choose.

I'm still hoping someone will chime in with some feedback on what fits the Luka sculpt best. I'm only getting one body at the moment but I will have both a modded Luka and a custom faceupped Mirwen to develop characters for. One of them might even end up being a boy, but I'm still undecided.

Luka (and also my Shiwoo elf & Juri 08) fits 6/7 from Monique, no silicone cap, etc. The wig pictured is the JoJo style. I think they are the perfect fit, a little tight which takes a tiny bit of effort to get on...but they don't slide around either.

I have a few other wigs I can try on her in the next few days. But basically the Leek 6.5 are really tight, but don't slide around. I only have short boy style wigs from Leeke and with the 6.5 the shorter pieces do stick up a tiny bit. The 7/8 plops right on but then slides and easily plops off, so would probably benefit from a silicone cap. Hope that helps Wovenflame (and anyone else).

I also bought her a size 6-7 Monique "Ally" in the "Blondie" colour but I've put that aside, possibly for an incoming Mirwen head.




Both wigs fit the Luka perfectly. Snug to get on, but then they fit without a wig cap. I find my Jojo can slip a very small amount when I'm adjusting the head position when posing the doll, but a small bit of silicone on the underside would probably fix that right up.

 

Haha, guess I was a little slow! Well, your girl looks great! And those are actually 2 wigs I've considered buying for other dolls so I'm glad to see pics of them!

Overall, Leeke 6/6.5 fit perfectly, with or without wig caps. 7/8 would not fit at all, even with wig caps. You can position them to make them work in pictures somehow (i didn't put in any effort for that), but IRL it really just doesn't work.

Sunny's World 6/7 are a bit hit or miss. The straight black one was a bit tight, can probably be stretched enough to work properly. The two in the middle fit perfectly. The Little Bo Peep one is big, but can work.

I am going to order a 7/8 so will add new photos of her when it arrives.

Fit: It's a little big. TinyBear gives instructions for shrinking them to fit though. I have found that putting a clear silicone "elastic" around Panalaya's head before putting the wig on eliminates some of the slipping.

I've bought a number of Ginger wigs from the Monique and Jpopdolls sites. The curls have always been exactly as pictured. Loose, soft wavy curls.

Except the size 4 wigs, which are very tight curls due to the very small size.

As for what fits minifee, I use mostly Monique and Jpop wigs and I've found size 6/7 fits them best. Size 7/8 tends to be just a tad large. Shaggy wigs have bangs that are too long, and often the stretchy wig caps are a bit loose. Never have had a problem with slipping with 6/7, though.

 

Stormlight, than I assume Monique 6/7 wig caps are strechy enough to fit f.e. chloe head and obey once being put on...?

 

Anyone wants to tell me what size of wig from which brand their D.Marcias wear? Mine wears a 6/7 Leeke wig that she stretched beyond recognition and it still sometimes plops off and Leeke 7/8 is too big.

 

@RedRibbon: Yep! Monique wigs have very stretchy caps. I had a Chloe and she wore size 6/7 with no problems at all. Stayed put and didn't slip.

I can also say that Happy Camille wigs in size 7/8 fit well, too. I guess they're sized a bit smaller or something. The very long wigs slip just a little due to weight, but with a rubber band or headcap they should stay in place nicely.

(That's the other great thing about Jpop/Monique wigs. Even the longest wigs are so LIGHT compared to other long wigs.)

 

Any tips on the recommended size for a Rix...? Preferably with Leeke wigs.

I'm so new to BJD's that I have to ask.. can I have some links to these companies? I just can't seem to find the perfect wig for my girl, but these are giving me ideas. I really want to get a blonde or light pink wig, that's styled with loose curls, or something along those lines anyways.

I'd imagine that it will be too big, unfortunately. I had a Dollheart wig in that size and even Miyu, who has a pretty big head, was drowning in it. I wouldn't give up hope just yet, though - some wig styles are smaller than others. You can also try using a silicone head cap under the wig to help it stay on.

 

Does anyone have experience with DollWig wigs on their minifee? Just found them on Etsy, but the link they refer to for sizes doesn't seem to work

 

This thread has made my life so much easier, i was super worried about buying my MNF Chloe, Thalia, a wig that was too big/small... This now reassures me that the one i've bought will fit her nice and snug :3

I'm about to purchase a silicon wig cap for my incoming Marcia from Dollmore. I am wondering if I should get the 7inch or the 7-8inch. Does anyone know which one fits better? I hope this is the right place to ask >.<

 

I use the 6/7 wig caps for all my MNF's and they work great.

It should be. I think it will cover more of their head and dollmore 7/8 sizes seem to work well for the MNF's.
