    3. This was great! Thanks for sharing! I'm just curious, where did you get those gloves? Like, an art store or something? Or just like a super store? They seem like a good idea so the oils of your hands don't interfere with the face-up process. Sorry if you said any of this in the video, I can't listen too it right now because I lost my headphones. ^_^;

    4. Thank you so much for posting the video. I've always admired your work and have wanted to work on doing faceups myself. It's difficult finding information about airbrushing especially for those who learn from visuals. I was wondering if maybe in another video you could show your hand holding the airbrush as you work. It'd help me out greatly to see how it's supposed to be held and I'm sure it'd be helpful for others.

    5. This is amazing. I've startled to really take my faceups seriously and it's nice to see how other people do things. I loved seeing how you put the paint into your airbrush. Maybe it seems obvious, but I never thought to do that! I am jealous of your pencil sharpening skills, btw. Mine always break (soft core?).

      Thank you for posting this.

    6. Thanks a lot. This tutorial was VERY helpful for me to understand some things I've been wondering how to do this or what's this is for, like the eye lashes. And I have a question or two, wouldn't the pastel damage the airbrush or is it completely safe to use as long as it's very fine? And my other question is, how you get the water colour pencil marks not to be grainy when placed on? Is it how it's placed, the texture of the sealant, the brand of the pencil, or a mix?

    7. Well, I know the question wasn't directed at me, but the lesser quality pencils are going to have more binder and less pigment so you will notice a difference in how they go on and how better pencils go on. For instance, I have Prang watercolor pencils for using in my sketchbook and Derwent ones for faceups. I once used the black Prang when I couldn't find my black Derwent and noticed it was grainy and not as opaque.

    8. What a gorgous face-up! Your video was really helpful in seeing the whole progress. :)
But I've got a question regarding the lashes, won't thye bend or come off the glue if you put in eyes?

    9. Second the eyebrows being least favorite!!!! wow.... stunning face up. i am in the same boat as many on " how do you get it to look like that.....????" this is a huge help just not for me but for many! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! and in answer to above question... if you spend a little more on things like pastels and pencils, you get better quality pigments and smoother application.

    10. Thank you very much for posting this video! It's very helpful for me to learn the step-by-step face up. The video and the instructions are very clear to me. Hope to see more videos from you~
I just have one question: when adding the lip gloss in the final step, I always remove the color on the lip by accident. This happens when I brush the lip multiple times to complete the gloss. I notice that in your video you also put on the lip gloss multiple times...did you use some special techniques to stop the lip color from falling off?

    11. Thank you everyone :) I cant answer all the hundreds questions I received one by one, but will try to cover them in my videos as time goes on. Next video should be up in about 24 hours :)

    12. Amazing! I definitely learned some new things watching this. I thought only paint could be used for eye liner, I was really surprised to see you using a pencil! What kind/brand is it that it goes on so dark and smooth?

As a personal aside... I always have trouble getting pastels to go on smoothly, even after buying some expensive pastels that are so soft and vibrant that the color/powder come off at a light touch.

    14. Always been a big fan of yours. x3 Not only of your faceups, but also of your overall attitude toward your fans- you're always very kind to us! I think I speak for everyone when I say that we really appreciate seeing these videos.

If you do not mind my requesting, a couple things I would like to see is:

      • How you go about doing stronger, brighter faceups, such as:

      • How you successfully change expression in a faceup, such as:

      • Or a little sneak-peek into your method at doing elaborate designs, such as:

Even if I don't see such a thing, I still greatly appreciate the time you've taken into showing us a little bit of inner information on your wonderful talent. Keep on rocking, Andreja! ヽ(〃・∀・)ノ☆゚'・:*

    15. Thanks everyone! Keep the feedback and questions coming, I am writing them down and will be covering as many of them as I can in the following videos. I decided to make a separate Q&A section of the video after the faceup painting just to make it a bit clearer :)

Mareepu: awww thank you, that is such a kind comment! :) Yep I plan on covering all sorts of faceups (very colorful, natural, fantasy etc) I only need to wait until I get commissioned something like that.

    16. i love watching people work loads, used to drive people nuts watching...
What kind of sealer do you use? i've never used any in my airbrush before and am a bit wary.

    17. WoW! Awsome tutorial. I have 3 lil' questions tho. 1. What brush did you use for the brows? @. (silly ?) what kinda eraser were you using? & 3. How long do you wait inbetween each coating of MSC? Thanks!

Cannot wait to see more of your work :D

    21. So incredible! I'm trying to absorb it all like a sponge. :D
As I commented on your Q&A video, I'm very curious about how you seal?
I have most trouble there, always get a lot of dust stuck in the MSC. :(

    23. Thank you so much for sharing your working process with us. I love to watch them!
And I have one (simple) question:
How do you clean your brushes after using them?

    24. I dont clean the pastel brushes. But the ones I use for gouache stay in a special brush holder that keeps them in the water at all times. :)

    25. Hi Andreja! I've always been a fan of your faceups. I tried using your watercolor pencil method, using Derwent Inktense watercolor pencils, but no matter how much I sharpen the pencil the lines all come out grainy. Am I not applying enough pressure? Or am I using too much? I can't fathom how you get those lovely smooth faint lines. If I could switch to using watercolor pencils rather than laboring over paint and fine brushes it'd make faceups go much quicker.

What is your secret? Is there a particular TYPE of derwent or FC watercolor pencil you are using?

    26. hmmm I have no idea why are people having issues with "grain". I mean you still need to build up the eyelashes as I show in my video. Only drawing one line once wont make it look nice and even, this is why I start with a lighter color and then go over it a few times (after sealed) and draw a nice shape for each eyelash. My method is not supposed to be faster but just easier if you can't learn to use normal brush+paint ( like myself :P ).

I am only able to get one type of both FC and Derwent watercolor pencils here in australia, I don't know if there are different types available elsewhere(doesnt look like from the websites). So for Faber Castell the full name is Albrecht Dürer artists‘ watercolour pencils (http://www.faber-castell.com.au/44795/Products/Art-Graphic/Art-Graphic-product-line/fcv2_index.aspx), and for Derwent is just simply watercolour pencils (http://www.pencils.co.uk/product.aspx?mid=719).

    30. Awesome videos! I really like the most recent one so far! Do you paint the whole face in one day or over separate days?

    31. Incredible! Wonderful idea. Being able to see how it's done is so much better than just reading about it. (I believe in visual aides) I do have a question. Is the shimmer powder that you use the same as what scrapbookers and card makers use? I didn't see anything about it on the Q&A video. Thanks for putting this thread up for us.

    32. dollsbestfriend: Yes and art&craft shops have usually a big selection of colors as well ^^

    33. Thank you Andreja !!!
It looks so easy when you do it !
But I believe without training it is not so easy.
I would love to see how you add upper eyelashes !

    34. What do you mean? All my videos except one show how to add upper eyelashes :O I dont apply them only when the customer didnt want any.

    35. I absolutely love your work! Because I was fawning over it to a friend, she gave me an airbrush for Christmas. xwx; So, how do YOU use yours? Do you clean it between steps? How do you know what colors and consistency the paint should be?

    36. Your work is incredible ! Really really beautiful !
      Thank you for sharing ^_^

    37. i think i've watched all your videos. thank you so much.

any advice on painting on tan or darker resin?

    38. These were probably the most helpful faceup videos I've seen yet. I'm very interested in doing my own faceups when I get a doll (soon), but I don't want my first one to come out terribly. In particular, thank you for including the eyelash part! I had no idea how to attach them, and you're process made it seem much more doable (I never would've thought to cut them up like that, but maybe that's just because I'm such a newbie). So, thank you again! Your work is excellent.

    39. I first found your stories after a friend showed me her BJD's and I did a bit of looking up on them! I have long wondered if you were on here! I'm hoping to see more

    46. Thank you for posting these videos, especially the last one. I wonder though, do you think it might be possible to spray on the medium or varnish using a fine mist spray bottle? I'd really like to try this out as Liquitex is readily available where I live and less expensive than MSC. Non-toxic is always a plus too!

    47. woah.. your work is absolutely stunningg.. thanks so much for sharing with us..

whats your favorite brands to use for paints/sealants?

    48. Wow this is incredibly helpful !! I've been wondering where to find this info, glad I found this thread.

    49. Is the touch really that rough that it would be a decisive con? I still think using this instead of MSC is better for many other reasons, but I would not want it to feel rough especially if I were to do body blushing with it or something :( So is it really rough that it is not very nice to touch or just feels more rough than other sealants that is is juts noticeable is all? :?

    50. Andreja, sometimes I think you have magical hands! everything you touch turns out good^^

May I know what kind of brush do you used to make the eyebrows? and thank you for the wonderful information. I will visit the hardware store soon since they have a small section for Liquitex materials.
