Dollstown Mini Discussion Part 2

Jul 26, 2011

    1. Hello all,
I couldn't get the links to work either. A question for you - I am considering getting another doll later this year and I would like a comparison of the elf doll posing and the 7 yo body posing. Is one better than the other? Do you think one looks more lifelike than the other when you are posing them?
      Thanks
Jane - Welcome back hope your vacation was great.

    2. Angelbrand.....Thank you....7 year and elf

    3. Shash....get my clothes from Lillilace and Margaret,Mini Couture... They know what I like and are excellent at their craft.

    4. Seeing as how it is so quiet, I am going to sneak in and post a picture of Millie while no-one is looking...

    5. Scarlett Empress, is Sia on the 5 year body?

    6. Yes, I wanted her to look very small and cute! A friend showed me a picture of a 7yr head on the 5yr body and I really liked how it looked.

    7. I have been lurking too much!! Miette got a new blouse and scarf (currently being used as a veil) from Dollmore this week. Here she is, looking melancholy as ever, Jean-Pierre attempting to comfort her :XD:

I did their face-ups for few times until i was satisfied with the result. Still they not perfect but they OK for now. I might redo them again. But i'm waiting for more MSC to be shipped.

Thank you all for looking at my pictures.

    9. Hi opal. Hannah is on the last picture. Mari is not shown yet. I just finished her third face-up and didn't had the chance to take her picture. Maybe tomorrow i'll try to post some more.

I also want to add little Ganga to my DT family and with time to try their pale tan resin. It looks lovely and very reach.

    10. Here is my Mari. She doesn't have her own body yet, so there is a lots of fighting going on. LOL

Seola and Mari sharing souldollkid body for now but i'm planning to put them on 7yold bodies. As soon as they will be available for order.

I'll try to post another picture of Hannah. opal, i hope that you can see her now.

Here is Hannah with her old face-up.

    11. Here is Mari's old face-up. I though that it was bit dark for her and she looks so sad. So i decided to lighten up her face a bit. I'm not sure if i succeeded but maybe its just her natural sad expression.

    12. I was inspired by Dale's matching outfits for her dolls so i've decided to make matching dresses for Hannah and Triste. I was lucky to find a large piece of Indian silk fabric at the local second hand store. And here are two dresses that i made for them.

    14. Hi ^^ I loved seeing your dolls! I just noticed they're all girls!

I've got my first dollstown two weeks ago: A Seola in a 7yo boy body; I had to get him since Dollstown was discontinuing the body (I can understand why). But he's so lovely! I gave him a face-up yesterday. He's not wearing the right wig and eyes, but I think these look good on him anyway.

    15. Carmen I love your little Seola lad, what a fabulous face-up for him :D and I like this wig and eyes you have chosen for him

Most are girls here I agree, but Teddy has an Arin lad that pops in every now and then. :)
Here he is with my Arin girl (before her transformation)

    16. Yay! More boys.

Some of the DT sculpts do make good boys.

As jane said, my Arin is a boy - he was supposed to be a girl, but every wig I tried screamed "boy in a girl wig" so I ordered the 7 year boy body for him instead:

    17. Soda - Here is the picture I promised of the Amy head on the 7 yo body. There is another one on my Flickr account of her standing.
      Hope this helps.

    18. I didn't - they're from http://www.ruthsdolls.eu. Quite a bit of Sasha/Gregor Doll stuff fits the 7 year body (except leg-length - shorts are fine but long trousers for Gregor are too sort on the 7 year body).

I have knitted sweaters and socks for my Arin, however:

I hope you don't have long to wait for your boy to be how you want him to look.

    19. I finally got a couple of pics of my new girls. It's been raining here off and on so I had to wait until it was nice out.

Momo is on the left and she has a 7 year body, Ganga is on the right on a 5 year body.

I made them each a sundress and crocheted them each a toy, Momo has a bunny and Ganga has a panda bear.

    20. Oh no that is okay.....I was just wondering it you knew

And I can vouch that paletan is beautiful too...

    21. Jane: Momo's face up was by WinterNightsPoem. She blushed her, too. She was originally ToyDogz Genevieve, lived with me for awhile, and is now lucky to be living in her new home.

    22. Getting caught up with all the posts and I am enjoying all the pics of the new dolls. I don't have anyone new but I just finished painting a Momo. I wish she was mine! Now I really want one. She is such a great sculpt.

    23. Tell me about it! ;)
And what colour resin did you get your Seola7 in please?

    24. She's in Freshskin Jane :) I was also wondering, do you have any DT dolls in Paleskin?....I was wondering how white it actually was...I might buy a Soph A in Paleskin one day ....think I'm addicted to these dolls :D
Nemesia The Momo you painted is gorgeous!:aheartbea....aww I need to stop looking, I want a Momo too now! :doh

    27. Nemesia, your Momo is another masterpiece by you. Love her soft face-up.

Mikkio, i'm in love with your Hannah. Virginia did awesome job on her face-up. Just gorgeous. I saw Hanna's pics on her website and was amazed by the painting. Congratulations with your new beauty.

    28. Well little Miss Emmy got a new face today - and almost lost the top of her head and her eyes! I went in to rinse her off and the dog (really puppy) grabbed the box they were in. But all were found out in the yard.
So her is Miss Emmy with new smaller eyes and a new face.

    30. Calphedoll - Emmy is a pale tan Ganga.

    31. My girls are in new wigs and new dresses. I kind of like Hannah's look in the black wig. Arin and Seola also tried on some new wigs.

    33. Bajib, thank you! So happy to see all the familiar faces and names :)
I will have some new photos of my girls to show soon!

Mikki: congrats on this gorgeous girl! Do I spot freckles? I bet she looks lovely in white.
Sorry about the broken finger.. I hope it can be fixed with tacky glue.

    34. You could perhaps cover the break with a ring...depending on whereabouts the break is

    35. I'm so sorry for her finger T.T

    36. Mikkio, I know this will cost money, but you could order replacement hands from DollsTown (I think they only come in pairs, though you could ask if they will sell you just the one you need to replace.) I hope you find a solution soon!

    37. Thanks for all the input....will fix and cover w/ a ring. She's absolutely awesome...we had an instant connection.....more pics to come
      * Welcome back Zozo and your adorable girls...Soph's white gown is being created as I write.

    38. I am so pleased you have figured it out Mikki...she looks a stunning girl.
      Please who did her face-up?
I would love a girl repainted by that artist

    39. I love that look for Soph! I hope you share her face-up artist's info too!

    40. I can't wait to see all of her, Mikki. :)

    41. ...Pleased to tell you...Soph's face up artist is Lywann. Second girl I've been fortunate to adopt from her.Her work is beautiful.Mikki

    42. Yesterday i made a new dress for hannah. I used some new and old lace. Collecting dolls developed in me great interest in beautiful fabric, lace and ribbons. Not being a professional seamstress, i use whatever i can find in the second hand stores. I took this pics late night. Sorry for poor quality.

    43. Wow, she looks like an angel that fell to earth! Lovelovelove the dress! :)

    44. Thank you Mikki what country is she from, do you know? I really like what I see of this artist's work :3nodding:

And I love the dress suok I am really beginning to think I should dress my girls in white now! ;)

    45. suok.just awesome.....love it.
      Jane...France

    46. Mikkio - your girl with the broken finger is wonderful, too nice to leave with the finger, at least that is how I would feel. I would ask DT if they would let you buy just one hand. You could maybe have it shipped with another order when you order next, that way it wouldn't cost too much.

Suok2011, - I love that dress. That gave me an idea. I might just bring out my antique fabrics and lace I have been hoarding for one of my antique dolls. They all have outfits which I never change so maybe my BJD should use it. My Momo needs a new outfit and she deserves that lace. Your dress was nice and simple to show off the lovely lace. Come the fall, I will have more time and I will get busy (sounds like a good plan anyways) Did you use a pattern or just measure the lace to her body and then gather. I guess a person wouldn't really need a pattern for that style of dress. How did you do it up at the back? Also, I love the antique lace you have your doll laying on. Now that is really gorgeous lace fabric.

    47. Mikkio, I love your new girl's soft hued faceup! She's gorgeous. Sorry about the broken finger.

And Suok, I adore vintage fabrics. Great job making her a lovely new dress! She's very sweet in it.

    48. Thank you everybody for your nice comments. This project was totally spontaneous. I just picked out some lace and crocheted napkins and tried to put it all together so it would look nice. I didn't use any patterns. The top part have a button closure on the back and skirt closing on the front with velcro.I started to make it really late at night and was rushing to finish this outfit quickly. I really love the look of lace and vintage fabric on DT dolls. Their faces have antique or vintage look to them. So my lace came very handy.

    49. shashy and soda...her finger is fixed.....will have pics( waiting on wig and new gown fron Margaret)......defy anyone to tell she had an injury

    50. Look forward to seeing her, Mikki. :)

    51. Suok: that is a beautiful dress, what a lovely fabric and your Hannah looks adorable in it. I love the last photo, she must feel so luxurious surrounded by all the amazing lace!

      Mikki
: congrats on a great job! Looking forward to see more of your amazing new girl!
