      Chapter 6
      Hänsel and Gretel from Grimm Fairy Tales by the Brothers Grimm
      Welcome, welcome, one and all.
      How about I tell you another of my favorite dream stories tonight?
      For sure it'll distract you from all your frets and woes.
      This is a story from long, long ago, from a time when people's wishes still came true.
      In a land far, far to the distant west, a poor woodcutter and his wife lived on the very outskirts of a forest.
      This couple had been blessed with a wise young son and a charming young daughter.
      These two were so beautiful that even in the very darkest reaches of the forest they seemed to gather the light itself, and their names were Hänsel and Gretel.
      The brother Hänsel had the courage to walk in the forest with his father even from when he was young, and the sister Gretel carefully followed her mother's directions, while bravely watching over her older brother.
      The two of them were truly adored.
      But one fateful summer, the distant west became so cold that not even a single potato could be found in the fields.
      And at last the couple had reached the very limits of all the food they had in their house.
      If something did not change, they'd all of them starve to death...
      You can be sure in the distant west many a life was extinguished from this very cause.
      And yet, that couple loved their wise children so very, very much.
      And so, they had no choice but to give them the very last of the bread
      And leave them deep, deep in the heart of the forest...
      The name of that forest was...
      Oh, so you know it, do you?
      I see, I see.
      Do you think they're doing well, those two, deep in that forest...?
      In that forest so far to the west, where beautiful creatures are said to live in its depths...

Jane is a medium with the power to see, communicate with, and calm spirits. She has also shown aptitude at creating psychic barriers and weapons, but it is a new skill.

      Jane excels in school and wants to be Student Council President when she's a senior like her older brother. She also looks after her twin brother and tries to keep him out of trouble and harm's way. She's is protective of her friends and takes on more responsibility than any fifteen year old girl should have to in order to keep those she loves safe.
