Backstory: Mattie, like his elder brother Max (Yvon Maximillien Dubois), was stuck with a frilly name (that he cannot abide) bestowed upon him by his father. He counts himself fortunate that his mother had better ideas than his father when it came to names. He is a college student currently trying to seduce his elder brother's best friend Francis (whom he's always had a crush on) into a relationship with him. Max does not approve, but feels it would be hypocritical to comment, seeing as how he's married to Francis' younger brother Jacques. Mattie lives in a student apartment near campus and is frequently visited by his brother, who brings him containers of food from the bistro he operates with Jacques.

Additional info/backstory: He was born with eyes that could see the spirit of the Holders and Keepers (gods of the Realm), and when this was discovered while still an infant, he was bought from his parents by the Order of Elucidated Followers—a group that worshiped the Holders and Keepers. In the Order, he was venerated as a holy child and given the official title of the Realm-Gazer. Upon hearing about him, the Seeker of Creation (Doll in Mind Minimee Reno) sought him out, managing to snatch him from the Order. It is through his inborn ability that the Seeker of Creation was able to find the Wind-Holder (Switch Taeheo).
