Personality: Deceptively languid. The way Neirne behaves, you'd think he never pays attention to anything, but it is quite the contrary: Neirne is sharp as a tack and rarely misses a beat, even when he's asleep. Convenient, seeing as he sleeps almost 18 hours a day. When he's not playing a role for his own benefit, he's intelligent, catty (but only cruel when it's warrented), and even benevolent. When crossed, benevolence becomes terrifying malevolence, and all that intelligence and cattiness is all the worse.
Background: (Originally a rather munchkin-y Vampire: the Masquerade character, so this is almost entirely jargon from the game.) Born into a powerful, though extremely closely tethered Tremere revenant clan, Neirne was very young when the matriarch of the revenant clan declared war on their Tremere masters and all their vampire kin. Though the Leith clan were perhaps the most successful of any uprising revenant clan in the beginning of their resistance, they were quickly decimated by the superior numbers of vampires and loyal hangers-on. Neirne was abducted by a Lasombra Bishop, who fancied a powerful little bastard to play with. The Lasombra did not count on the fact that Neirne's power lay in dreams, and after weakening his new master considerably while he slept, Neirne was able to destroy the Lasombra and flee. For the next two and a half centuries, Neirne would roam the world, taking domitors and killing them when they became too dominating, moving on when it struck him. Someone caught on sometime in all that time, and his alias Nicholas Shai was redlisted by the Camarilla, naming him Anathema.

Background:

Timothy Pryce was created for a sole purpose: to become an Oracle. Oracles are dolls that live in direct contact with their creators: Humans, and have therefore a special position in their society. Normal dolls you see, can't communicate with their Makers and need these special dolls for that.
In order to become an Oracle, the Dollmakers have to create a doll that has one blind eye and one normal. The blind eye is to look up and see their gods, the normal eye is to look down and see their gods minions. However, when the Humans created Timothy, something went wrong. Instead of heaving one blind eye, the boy became completely blind. Because he could not look down upon the earth and see the worshippers of the gods he was supposed to serve, he was useless for that purpose.
Now, instead of being this supposedly all-knowing person, able to communicate with the gods and predict some parts of the future, he had to count the steps between himself and the table in order not to stumble upon it. The only link that remained between the gods and himself were the soft whispers of their voices. Loud enough to hear, but too soft to understand what they were saying.
