Has any one tried adding lashes to the bottom instead of drawing / painting them on? I've been pondering the idea when my girl arrives. I searched for it, and skimmed through several posts but it doesn't look like it's bene talked about.
to keep it thin I was thinking I could run a fine line of clear glue and lay the lashes down at the length I want. Once the glue was set I could trim them back from behind flush to the eyelid. May need to experiment before doing the face up...
my Anais has real lower lashes, white ones, i think it looks really nice, my camera's kinda crappy and cant capture them really, I'll try and get a pic ><

Some eyelash sets come with the lower-part, no? *dumb question, has a pair of those* The lower part has much more shorter lashes and I'd think it could work. Sadly I'm not about to try it because I don't think it would work on my boys ^^ *only bought the pair to get very short set of eyelashes* They don't seem to be on very many dolls though Or then I can't just see them. Heck, if nobody that doll in Magnavoxes ( er? ) post has those I surely couldn't tell XD;; Kinda says it at least doesn't look tacky at all :3
So cute! This has given me some ideas.... Clover would never forvie me if I made him look super girly though. lol. I think I'm going to experament though with trimming really short... Lower lashes on dolls look so neat.
I think it would really make them look that more realistic. Not saying that drawn lashes don't look realistic. A lot of them do. But I figured having the lower ones would be easier. I have a shakey hand so.. the face up is going to be a challenge anyways. But anything to make things easier. chibistarpower I can see them a little, the light reflects off them. Looks good.
I painted lower lashes and thought while I was putting real lashes on her, it wouldn't hurt to keep going and putting lower lashes on... Shinju has painted and applied lower lashes... sorry I didn't have the best lighting and I still need to buy a tripod!
Have you seen this site: http://gothic.pobox.ne.jp/alice/nightmare/index.html Most of the girls have amazing lashes, really beautiful. It's one of the first doll sites I ever found after seeing the four sisters at Volks. I still look at it a couple times a month.
I know this was posted a long time ago,but I just saw this while looking for help with eyelashes. That's my girl! I just love her, and believe it or not those are painted lower Lashes. Heavybomb is such an artist. I just wish she would start taking commissions again. With My Gabrielle (Sra) to compare to, I'm never going to be happy with my repaint of my Lishe.
I have upper and lower lashes on both of my girls.. its the only way I would do it because I KNOW I couldnt' do them justice painting them on.. here's a couple of pics Megumi's second face up Alyona's first face up These are both 'wispy double' lashes from kemper.. I get them from www.miniworlddolls.com for $1.25US a pair plus shipping.. can't beat that price! Here are Megumi's first lashes.. totally different style, and they came from Audreys... As you can see I have learnt a lot about face ups since then :> Be well Carol
A couple of my dolls have partial lower lashes. Eurydice: Pris: Talullah also had them, but i don't have a very good picture of them.
Has anyone used actual eyelashes for the lower lids instead of painting the eyelashes on? Lil King - Tithen
There are lower lashes available for dolls. It tends to look creepy and spidery (as in, Augh a spider died in her eye!), especially when human size lashes are used. It never hurts to try it, though.
I'd actually like to see some pics of real lower lashes used (doll or human). I tried doing it a while ago, but I couldn't get them to set properly. I think that they'ed look interesting, but I've never seen it done before.
Theres a girl on the boards here named Glyndon. Some of her dolls have both upper and lower eyelashes. Do a search and you should come across some of her stuff..i dont really want to repost anything of hers without permission though
I like to add lower lashes on all my girls, this is Jinelle I think next time though I am going to use brown lashes for the bottom, and perhaps even lightly bleach them so that they are not to dark. The picture did make them appear pretty long though. I could have made them a bit shorter. But in person they don't look to bad. I use human lashes, cut in half, or the length I need. The lowers are little groups of 3-4 applied.
Pretty, this makes me happy as I was worried about have to paint lower lashes and now I have a way around it (besides omiting them all together)
Really you don't like painting lower lashes? That's one of my favorite parts of painting a face-up. Sometimes I get carried away with it, like last time I was asked to paint full eyelashes of atleast 5mm long! Sera
I can do every other part of the face-up fine, i just can't do lower lashes to save my life. Maybe I'm not using thin enough brushes, or I'm not thinning the paint enough or something, but they alwasy come out so chunky, not nice and feathery like everyone elses. Then again, I can't paint eyebrows either, I have to do them with watercolor pencil. I feel all amateur-ish now, I thought I was getting better at doing face-ups and even considered taking commissions, but if aparently I have to be able to do lower lashes then... Oh well, I'll learn at some point, right? Either way, I think I like the look of lower lashes, I can't wait to try it with white lashes.
My Artemis has lower lashes, and so does my Jessie, but I only have pics or Artemis at the moment....
well... I don't know if I should post this, because you said you weren't going for creepy, but here is my doll with applied lower lashes: it looks a little weird right now, because they aren't long enough to line her whole eyerim, but when she gets her new faceup, i will have the inner eyerims painted black so that it doesn't show where the applied lash ends. does that make sense?
Wow, crybabygirl777... I actually really like those lashes. They look really neat. I've been curious about the whole bottom lash thing for a while too, so I'm really glad this thread was started.
Wow... Very simply, wow. I'm floored, those are so wonderful a dramatic and, and, and... *drool* I want some!!!
I like eyelashes either way. The painted lashes and 3d lashes have very different feels to them though. I think I'm going to try real lashes with my next doll. My tiny really can't do 3d lashes. The lashes I can find just don't look natural. Too long. But a full SD can! (as proved in some of those pics. Wow! Gorgeous stuff!)
WHOAAAA!! Those are so pretty, all of them!! now I don't have to worry about drawing lower eyelashes with these shaky hands of mine! YAY!! ^^ er... but I still have to deal with eyebrows.... *shivers*
I tried the lower lashes on my doll and they look fabulous. Sure you ahve to have patience to put them on, but they look so good when you're done. I don't suggest them unless you are looking for a dramatic effect as these babies make my Chami's eyes go WOAH!
I'm bumping this thread 'cause I want to see if anyone has it done nowadays. Plus, a lot of the pics/links are dead in this thread. >____>
I'd like to second the request for more images of dolls with lower lashes applied instead of painted.
The Dollzone Xi-Aliester's limited Clockwork Extreme faceup comes with applied lower lashes, with painted ones under them...
Sorry for necroing an old thread, but I love to seem more applied lower lashes. I am thinking of doing it to my girls.
