Clothing Hindu / Indian

Nov 12, 2008

    1. I looked around and didn't find anything similar, though I did see one or to dolls on this style on other subforums...

I currently have a Hindu doll (whom still doesn't have proper clothing), and I love the style, so I was hoping to see some dolls in Hindu/Indian gear and/or with Indian styled face ups (bindi, etc). Please also post where you got it from or the name/link to the person you commissioned from, since I'm desperately looking for this style of attire for my dolland it'd be very helpful to know where to get them. :sweat

Anything from Sari, Salwar Kameej, Lehanga, Sherwani, Lungi & Dhoti... any kind of Hindu clothing is welcome, in boys and girls alike~

    2. I don't usually post dolls that I've sold, but this is a face up I really adored and never got to cherish. It ended up having to be redone because of bad weather interfering with the sealing. Anyway. This was my original idea for Tan lishe, a modern Hindu goddess. It may not be what you were looking for but I hope it helps you a little bit :aheartbea

    3. My boy Azvasena (tan El) is Indian (and Hindu), and while I still haven't made him many proper outfits, he does have an absurd amount of jewelry, and some pretty scarves.

He was wearing a bindi for awhile, too.

    4. Bump, leaving a couple pics of my own (though I think I've far proved my sewing skills suck and my fabric shop carries anything but adequate fabric for saris... ):

    5. I just finished airbrush tanning my Yisol. She's honestly too dark, but I'm going to wait to change her color. Since the paint will eventually chip off anyway, I figure next time I'll paint her lighter.
She still has no faceup, but here she is semi dressed.

    6. So I got around to painting my girl and now I think she's the perfect color <3 I'm so glad I decided to completely alter a yellowing Supia instead of waiting for Dollfair to open tan orders again! Now I'm just waiting for her custom outfits to be made.

    9. Hi! I too have always wanted to be more culture in the bjd world. Its rare that u would find a hindu doll. I like everybody's dolls. They do look Indian. I love their style of clothes and design on them. I love the vibrancy of the clothes thats on the doll. I've always to be moreethnic bjd dolls. Well done to everybody's doll I have seen.

    10. Cillian is very 'multi-cultural' with a particular interest in Hinduism (a boy wearing a bindi?! *o*):

    13. I've had an idea for a character that is a Sikh warrior for a long time, but most molds are kind of east Asian looking. (Indians are technically Asian - but whatever)

Here's an example of what I'm talking about: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/f/f9/Sikh_wearing_turban.jpg/800px-Sikh_wearing_turban.jpg

      They're badass: http://www.nwha.org/news_4Q2002/resources/punjab1.jpg

Anyway...I was looking for a mold that at least had the same facial structure and color. As far as facial hair, I think most of the younger generation do not grow the full beard, but do keep the turban. (If anyone is more familiar with their customs please correct me)

      Thank you :3

    14. What a cool concept!! The only unfortunate part is that there aren't a lot of natural tan resins available for regular release. Here are my three suggestions and I did a mockup of Adler for you as sometimes it's hard to visualize what a sculpt would look like in other resins:

A strong sculpt like Dikadoll Adler might work, and he's available in tanned resin: http://www.dkdoll.com/productsen.asp?id=34
The pics on the website really don't do him justice though, so here's a box opening thread: http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?369201-Box-Opening-Dikadoll-Adler-WARNING-nudity

      Also Angelsdoll Cian or Dan...

Her name is Lali and she's a repainted Tan Lati Yellow Ruki :) She's really good fun to photograph! I'd really like to find a sari for her...

    17. Bumping ~ :) Does anyone know where to buy MSD sized Saris?

    18. Sorry for a bit of thread necromancy but... I saw this guy on deviantart a while ago (Not mine, though I kinda wish he was ;) ) and I couldn't not share him on this thread...

He's a hindu holy man, and his faceup and clothes are amazing.

    19. There's no such thing as too old of a thread! (I am sure, though, that there's another Hindu-themed thread around here somewhere as well).

      My tan MNF Lishe, Jayati:

She has the most superbly done henna work on her hands and feet.

    20. This is the only picture I have of her (And it isn't great-), but my bronze Onyx has an Indian theme. The outfit she was wearing here is from Soom... not that you can see much of it.

I believe this was a Dollheart outfit? Bought it second-hand from a lass in Russia

    23. Wow! These dolls are gorgeous. Indian and Hindu art and fashion are incredible and I love the way it's been incorporated into these dolls. I'd love to have an Indian doll who actively believes in/offers worship to the Hindu pantheon!

(belladonna's Cillian up there with that Ganesha tattoo... :drool that little ankh necklace is also cool!)
