i did a search but found nothing specifically like this request....so i hope im ok posting this ***newbie nerves*** i would love to see your girls in victorian styles and fashions. Gothic lolita included, but not nessecary...im thinking of 'Alice', 'picnic at hanging rock', anything remotely of that era, and of cousre, dreamily pretty (or dark!) so! post away if you have them thankyou x
Mariette isn't crazy about this bonnet, but i got it on her for a couple of photoshoots. I love this dress (it's from Dollmore)--it looks amazing with red shoes and at a teaparty: (enough with the spam, right?)
Well here's Ipsie in a victorian outfit, but it's not her style and I will be selling it at some point.
My girl's character is set as that of a 16 year-old Victorian girl/lady, so here's a few shots of the sort of things she's been in lately. It's not really strictly Victorian or Lolita, but it's somewhere in between =)
Hopefully this will show up properly; I seem to be having issues with images just showing up as the link. Anyway, here is my girl Amara modeling a Civil War era dress I made. Probably a little bit earlier and a little bit lighter than what you are going for in general, but it is for sale in the marketplace. (Sorry, hope the plug is allowed, otherwise let me know and I'll delete it.)
Here are Cindy and Cyndée wearing Dollmore dresses. The black one is quite detailed (it just doesn't photograph well). The bonnets are something that the two put up with. I agree (besides, Cyndée just doesn't do cute).
My Elisabeth is a Victorian girl. The real girl she's based off of was Queen Victoria's great-great granddaughter, even! :3
My Cyndy's hairstyle isn't Victorian, but her dress is close enough... (and it's cosplay from the movie "Stardust" which is totally fantasy, anyway)-- 07-11-ladollpa056z401x600 by aprilllee, on Flickr My Juri '05 in a Vitta Vera dress (originally meant to be a version of a Vampire Lestat gown, but I think it looks more Victorian/Edwardian than Georgian)-- 08-01newyears130a425 by aprilllee, on Flickr My CP Elf Elf Vampire wearing Arcadia Circus outfit-- 12-11-SDBJDc_1632 by aprilllee, on Flickr My Iplehouse Tedros wearing Iplehouse outfit and Iplehouse Theo wearing Tous Les Garcons-- 12-11_1703 by aprilllee, on Flickr Yes... None of 'em are all that historically accurate, they are definitely more "in the style of" than anything else...
I'm kind of shocked by the number of things people are putting in here as Victorian, despite having waist cinches, completely bare shoulders and arms, skirts only to the knees.... That said, I too would like to see realistic Victorian boots, and more accurate Victorian dress.
perhaps everyone's sense of the era is slightly different. sometimes we have to suggest a mood, if we do not have the entire, accurate garb. as the OP, i was more concerend about the mood and style than accuracy and perfection.
Suuchan-You have to consider that some of the dolls on here may be children, and therefore where children's victorian dresses, which are shorter than the adult dresses, like Majesty's girl :] But yes, I agree, some of these dresses are very short for Victorian dresses XD
^^; Um, they are very different time periods... You're off by quite a ways there. And I am one of the people who tend to stick with definitions of a word. If it is not Victorian, please call it Victorian-inspired. I know that children's clothing is different, but no Victorian style had a waist cinch or anything like that. It's like calling something a 'flapper' dress if it has a full, floor-length skirt, just because it has fringe on it. >>;
I agree with you, I would like to see more REAL Victorian-like clothing. I think the problem is that people think anything is old fashioned or antique must be Victorian.
They most certainly did. They were called corset waists. The real corset was worn under clothing, the dress/shirt was worn over it, and the corset waist worn on top of it all. It wasn't boned, but heavily corded to keep its shape. I'm usually a stickler for accuracy, but they're just dolls. Since the original poster doesn't mind, I say keep on with the "inspired" bits! They're still quite gorgeous.
Here is my Souldoll Harang dressed as Claudia from Interview with a Vampire. Oh, and I made the gown!
My girls in their victorian clothes: Angela (SD Bianka): Martina (MSD Nagisa): Victoria (SD Luna): Valentina (SD Kurumi): Manuela (SD Carol):
I was rather shocked not to find a thread for this, as I know many people on this board have Victorian, Neo-Victorian, or Steampunk dolls, but does anyone have their dolls in corsetry? I've been researching this subject a lot lately, along with other Victoriana, and I thought it would be fascinating to see if anyone had corsets for their dolls... how does it work on a hard form? Many of the female molds available have nearly corset-sized waists already, so it seems as though a Victorian lady would have no trouble.... I'll stop ranting now. The point is: Does anyone have photographs of their dolls in corsets, especially the more authentically Victorian styles? Thank you in advance.
Not sure if these counts as Victorian or not...but definitely Victorian-inspired! and WOW, Candygears, that is one awesome dress-- and one beautiful doll!! Wherever did you find the locket? I'm forever searching for little bits to add to my outfits, but it's hard to find them in the proper scale.... Your girls are so lovely, Miriam. They have such a sweet, serene look about them. and yeah, Padawansguide is one of my favorite sites too!!!
I did a Victorian inspired outfit with a full underwear set. It wasn't period accurate by any means, but I did experiment a little with various techniques to get the corset to look right on a doll's hard body. Eventually I used batiste cotton with boning cut from a hard plastic sheet, and minuscule 3/16 eyelets. For the busk I used size 0 hook and eye sets, hand stitched to another, wider strip of plastic. Everything I could do to reduce bulk, I did. I think it turned out alright. Corsetry is fun, and I've done a few corsets for various outfits.
here is my model ipsae in her 'victorian' corset which was adapted from an actual corset pattern (not by me though). an older picture of the corset -- but a better view
I really do recommend Dei! She makes the loveliest Victorian frocks for minis. I don't have a full-body shot of the dress, but here is my Lunisia wearing a pink Dei gown:
Yay somewhere else I can post this! XD This is my Victorian girl, Helena. I'm working on getting my whole cast in resin. Dress is made by Dei, all this girl's dresses come from her.
I'd like to see more men in Victorian clothes, please. Here are my two in outfits comissioned from the formidable Lordjestocost.
hello~ lol i cant think of a better title my girls getting a new dress thats kinda victorian, think along the lines of Sweeny Todd wear and im stumped on what shoes to get her. so show me what ur girls are wearing on there tootsies! preferably if they come in black and heels if possible if not that's cool too please post and let me know where u got them from ^_^ thanks
I'm happy to have found this thread! Jay, I ADORE that gown on your beautiful red-haired girl! While I have plans for a lot of bustle gowns I'm a bit stuck in the 18th Century at the moment. But I have a few Victorian-esque things to share. This is my Volks Anais in a Fer dress, Haute Doll jacket and bonnet I made that looks sort of like mid-19th C mourning. And a little girl's dress that I made my Volks f21 girl. It's really more Edwardian but hopefully that's okay.
These are a pair of dollheart shoes I have. I don't know if they're what you would consider Victorian...maybe Victorian-ish...? These particular ones are for MSD but I think I've seen these in SD sizes as well.
I ordered these thu Musedoll (I'll have them sooooon!!) I am obsessed with Victorian spool (or Louis) heeled boots and these are pretty close!
EEEEKK - They're heeere!! Tsukidoll - you were right, they look small! As they are for my Luts DES I didn't panic as she has tiny feets! The boots themselves measure just under 7.5cm from heel to toe (Leleth's highheel foot is about 7cm long and less than 2cm wide). My only gripe is that the zip doesn't go all the way to the top - the collar around the top of the boot prevents that. You have to unzip the boot and slip the dolls leg inside. They do lace open tho, so you can adjust them for fit. Posing! Close-up. You can see the tab on the zip and that the collar goes all the way around. More posing for the camera! Whew! Turned into a full-blown photo shoot
heey \o/ Let us see ur old times inspired kids. Show us see those beautiful long gowns, the lovely hairdos, those cute one piece underwear, the amazing acessories and those corsets to fall in love for
Wha? The sticky says Edwardian is included too! My girl's made-by-me Edwardian 'Gibson Girl' duster/skirt set (not time period appropriate colors, but is correct style). Shirt not made by me/not really Edwardian. More pictures, including details of the skirt and lining and such, in my gallery thread: http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=333835
What about Medieval? Three of my girls are in Medieval period and one is my "strictly Victorian" girl. The sleeves haven't been done on the smaller girls dresses yet. (The girl with her hand up isn't dressed for the picture, as the photostory goes she snuck into the photo anyway) Perdita and Johnny in Victorian: This is a dress from Dollmore but I like to imagine it's Victorian:
Some of my creations: on narsha body with real vintage lace on yosd 2 dresses i've made for narsha and rosenlied
I know that some parts or details of the two outfits are not strictly Victorian - so let me call them "late-Victorian inspired" dresses...
Ok, more guys! Here is Walker (Hound) in Victorian wear. Obviously, this photo is not that current as it was taken at Christmas time. But Walker is still wearing the same outfit. I love him in this outfit. And Luke (Lahoo) in a crazy Victorian Mad Hatter type outfit. He's a bit of a whimsical guy. And looking a little Steampunkish: I love this thread! So many talented sewers. I didn't make any of the outfits shown. I am so not a talented sewer! Jay
I have a girl, Anthea, who I've designated as Victorian. Here she is modeling an early bustle outfit: And an 1850's ensemble.
I love this thread I've made adult sized victorian dress for several years, and am wondering what a good size doll is to work with costume wise. Love your work MB Lilac and seen some other beautiful outfits in this thread and to die for lace up boots.
My girls playing croquet Azalka in casual summer ensemble, inspired by outfit called "Eveque", designed by paul Poiret in 1902 (I think, or was it 1903?) and Fiume in late Victorian/Edwardian teenage girl costume, this idea I stole from "Gigi" musical movie. Unfortunately, I didn't have accurate boots.
I found my SD supia body to be so petite and pretty in the dresses. The thicker bodies don't look as 'cinched' in.
