I'm looking for it inside Australia >_< I tried buying from online stores but the shipping just added up to crazy amounts so I'm probably going against that if possible. Currently I use 100% isopropyl alcohol to remove my faceups, but I seriously have a lot of trouble taking off things in creases like lips and ears. I don't really want to use Cutex Acetone-Free nail polish remover because they stain Are there any other brands of acetone-free nail polish remover I should look out for? And how do you handle them without staining the doll?
If you can't find W&N brush cleaner there's other brands of brush cleaners that work just as well. You will have to go to a serious art store though, ones that cater for professional artists, if you go to a general arts & crafts store (ones that seem to cater for general interest crafts like knitting and sewing projects as well as painting supplies) they likely won't have these.
I'm really having a hard time locating this in Australia. The staff in my local (read: Only) art shop have never heard of it. Any Aussie know where I can get some online?
if you cant find a local spot dickblick should be able to ship to it to you since its listed as non-flammable. info on their international shipping is at the bottom here http://www.dickblick.com/customerservice/shipping/ you can also contact this place http://www.jasco.com.au/p.aspx?id=19 ETA: this one is obviously a distributer and not a store but they might be able to point you to a carrier that they stock near you that if they don't carry it could order it for you without you worrying about shipping charges
Like I said in my OP, the only art shop we have here hasn't ever heard of it. Otherwise we've got spotlight and I know they don't have it. I've checked on quite a few online art supplies and most carry the brushes and such themselves, just not the cleaner.
I know how you feel - There's one family owned business here that sells the stuff and even then it's pretty rare that it's in stock. .__.; Ohhh Australia. xD! Okay, so I did a bit of online hunting for you and found this place. PurpleMantis: It's right down the bottom there. I've never brought from this place and I've noticed that it's a temp store but you could probably ask them what the go is. If you wanted I could check out said family store you, though they're a bit on the expensive side.
No worries! I called up our local art shop and at the moment they're only carrying brush cleaners by Chromacryl. ;-;! Might be best ordering from that link I gave you.
I ordered from Purplemantis last year, they were the only way I found to get W&N in Australia. In fact I should probably get some more soon.
i hope this is in the right place OK, so recently i went to that shop called 'ome de serres'. this is where i buy my pastels, brushes AND windsor and newton brush cleaner. BUT last time i went there, they told they can no longer sell this product D: so is there a site where i could order it online? edit: founz it! :-D http://www.dickblick.com/products/winsor-and-newton-brush-cleaner-and-restorer/
I'd say the first place to look is here: http://www.dickblick.com/ Dick Blick pretty much carries EVERYTHING and Windsor and Newton is a very common brand. Unless the brush cleaner is being discontinued by the company itself. (I'm straining to remember if the craft store where I work still carries it)
Hmmm, that's tough, sahoma. I know Windsor and Newton is sold everywhere in Ontario, so maybe it is just a quebec thing? Do you have any Curry's or other art stores in the area?
We suffer the same fate here in the UK regarding this brush cleaner. It could well be that it contains a chemical which is banned in UK, and other areas including yours and therefor no matter where you try to order it from they will not ship it to you, or should not if they have any morals at all as they will be breaking import laws. I know this is exactly what has happened with the likes of Testors dullcote spray for example. May be worth trying to find something else to use instead, luckily we can still buy Iso-propyl alcohol here not sure if you guys can though. Good luck!!
That is really weird. I bought a Large bottle of Windsor & Newton at the Omer de Serres downtown near Indigo last month and I was never told that they weren't going to be selling it any more.
I bought mine from OPUS: https://store.opusframing.com/sagro...n+brush+cleaner&search[mode]=andexact&x=0&y=0 If they can ship it to Inuvik, I'd think they can ship it anywhere! It does seem a bit crazy to have to get it on the opposite coast from you, though. However, they are having free shipping on orders over $100 till the end of the month, if you can find enough goodies, it might be worthwhile.
I switch between Winsor Newton and Non acetone fingernail polish remover. I use the non acetone for lighter removals and if something isn't coming off i use the Winsor newton as back up. Don't take my word for it though, it's just what I've used in the past. I'd also like to know what other people use for removals.
With alot of effort...it's not to hot for the creases and takes alot of scrubbing. Very interested in alternative removers within the U.K, anyone got any ideas? Both hobbycraft and Cornellisen's in london didn't carry anything I could discern as being safe for resin...
I bought mine at Michaels craft store, they probably have a website. And just because a salesperson has never heard of a product doesn't mean they don't have it, I would check around the brush cleaners if they don't know.
I would also like to know that is there anyone who can re-sell this brush cleaner in reasonable price.
I purchase everything on Amazon.com don't know if that helps though D: But it appears the actual company is listed as a seller on amazon.com, at least for the US version.
Just a warning to Australians looking to buy Winsor & Newton brush cleaner from Dick Blick - the shipping to Australia is $35.40 USD
I found a few different data sheets for Winsor & Newton cleaner to see what exactly's in there: http://www.winsornewton.com/assets/...us_brush_cleaner_and_reconditioner_030608.pdf http://www.onboces.org/safety/msds/W/Winsor Newton Brush Cleaner.pdf Main ingredient = Ethanol http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denatured_alcohol Here I thought it was just magic or Unicorn tears or something. XD So if actual W&N isn't available, I'm betting that most art stores will have a close substitute, no matter what country you're in.
I might be really late to the party here, but it looks like Winsor & Newton brush cleaner has recently been introduced in the UK (and possibly the EU as a whole.) Here's the page from the UK W&N site: http://www.winsornewton.com/product...ts-mediums--varnishes/solvents/brush-cleaner/ it seems to be readily available on ebay.co.uk at the moment. Comparing it to the same page on the US site, it appears to be the exact same thing, albeit different bottle, though it looks like they're also changing the US packaging to that same kind of... whatever shape that bottle is supposed to be I wish they made the ingredients lists more readily available though, I mean seriously "water-miscible solvent"? Thanks guys that's really helpful ^.^ I may shoot them an email just to be sure that they're one and the same. If so, I'll definitely buy a bottle and give it a go. I only use isopropyl alcohol at the moment but it doesn't half take a lot of elbow grease at times, and even then you're lucky if you can clean every little crevice. Sadly I am far too much of a wuss to try acetone. Going by those PDFs posted, it kinda just looks like weak meths? (Disclaimer: Please do not soak your doll in meths)
If you're talking about this one (the link just took me to the main W&N page): http://www.pullingers.com/P~WN3021740~Winsor-and-Newton-Brush-Cleaner-NEW It doesn't work, at all: http://www.denofangels.com/forums/s...ton-Brush-Cleaner-for-the-UK-ETA-Doesn-t-work Didn't even budge pastel and I seriously scrubbed and scrubbed.
Aw gutted :S I didn't see your thread so thanks for posting, I was probably going to buy a large bottle over the next few days so you've saved me a tenner!
This place stocks it - I got it cheaply from here before. They seem to be out of stock at the moment though. http://www.angeldustcreations.com.au
