Personality: Gwenllian has an almost magical talent for learning languages. Her parents, Mihangel Cyffin and Catrin Rhosyn, were explorers, so Gwenllian was brought up in a little village by her uncle and aunt, Iorwerth and Ann, and Gwenllian's numerous cousins are as close as siblings to her. When she is 11 years old her parents are missing and presumed dead, and she is also tested for magical ability and fails the test - it could be down to her grief, but you can only take the test once. She is given an Eastern Pointed Cat to try and cheer her up, and Gwenllian names him Arthur. Because she didn't pass the test, instead of going off to a magical school with her cousin Iolo, Gwenllian instead goes to Ysgol Graiglwyd, a boarding school for young ladies to develop their talents. There, Gwenllian makes three good friends (Morideryn of the Northern Tribes, Mafonwen Enku, and Tommeliesl von Dorfli,) and develops her language skills hoping that one day she can retrace her parents' journey and find out what happened to them.
