so.. i was taking an earing out of my yder head, and the hole is kinda tight. i slipped and didn't pull it out straight, and his ear cracked. thankfully nothing broke off, but it cracked all the way down from the hole. is there any way to fix this? i would imagine epoxy would do the trick, but i wouldn't be asking if i knew how. ^_^;;;;;;
Epoxy sculpt should do the trick. I can't really think of any other way I know of to fix it safely. Hope this Helps! =3
I think you mean Apoxie Sculpt? It is very good stuff but you will have to paint the crack to match the resin.
It is possible to mix acrylic paint into Apoxie Sculpt to match the resin, but it's a tricky business. >_< I've gotten the color close, but never quite exact.
I've heard some folks have better luck with the white Milliput so far as tinting goes. I think for something as small as a crack, painting would probably be easier!
If its just a crack and no parts are missing, I would just inject it with super glue and then compress until dry, wait until the next day and give it a good sanding. I bet you will only /barely/ be able to tell where it was, and probably less noticable than trying to coat the crack and paint it.
I second Buff's suggestion. If there isn't any resin missing, epoxy won't do you any good because it's not fluid enough to get into the crack. You can also try Zap-A-Gap, which is a cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) that is specifically designed to fill in cracks rather than bond two separate things together.
aaahgah. i haven't been getting any notifications for this topic! x_x so... i basically just coat my doll's earlobe in superglue? i'm confused.
No, like put a bit of superglue along the crack, then use your finger or something flat and try to smoosh it into the crack, then hold the part together, then just sand off any excess after a day of curing.
no it's really not......... dip your finger in a bowl of water for a minute then press it down. My brand only takes a few secounds to dry.
If you use Zap-a-Gap, you shouldn't need to "smoosh" it into the crack. Lay your doll down so that the ear is on a horizontal plane. Then run a thin bead of the glue along the crack. The glue will flow into the crack and bond the two pieces together. Let it cure while the doll is still reclining, then use some fine sandpaper to sand any excess surface glue.
This is helpful! My poor Melfina, an Angel of Dream (AOD) Female 1/4 Meng Ya Qi (Opened Eyed Head), has a crack where the top of her ear meets her head. At first I thought she was dirty, but when it didn't wipe clean I discovered the crack. I bought her used, and she was over a year old before I got her. Now there's hope I may fix her! Thank you!
