Mina is the ghost of a young French girl from the late 1700s.
On vacation at the ocean with her family, she is sent to bed early without supper one hot summer evening, because she put a frog in her older sister's long platinum hair.

When the family was asleep, Mina snuck out to the shore, to gather some seashells that she had seen earlier in the day.....just before midnight, she saw a beautiful mermaid in the water, who told her there were many more shells just a ways off the shore....and beckoned Mina to join her in the water.

The "mermaid" was actually an evil Rusalka, who drowned Mina just to feel her struggle against the current. The laughter of the Rusalka can still be heard sometimes on the wind at night near the ocean.
