Character History:
She lived in England during the 1860's as one of the notorious Pretty Horse Breakers and counted a Duke among her lovers. Her life changed when a small paper box was delivered to her home. Assuming it a gift from a lover, she opened it up to discover a pocket watch that when wound transported her to an alternate world. Now a member of The Society she hops though various worlds and histories looking for other artifacts. She has yet to return home.

Kale, as a slave girl, finds a dragon egg. Once the town realizes what she has done, she is sent on a quest. She soon finds out that she is in service to Paladin as a Dragonkeeper. In his service, she hunts/locates dragon eggs, quickens them when the time is right, aids in their hatching and trains them. This is a natural skill she was born with. She does all this to fight against the evil that threatens her world and to further Paladin's rule. (Kale's character is based on the Dragonkeeper book series by Donita K. Paul, so I can't take any credit for the character history, as it relates to the books.)

Humans 'gone feral' have begun to small communities, making trips across the countryside perilous even for large groups. Guaranteed residence in any of the gated towns, Caldera – ever the loner – finds it her preferable vocation.

Once she reached 14 she learnt their desire for knowledge was so strong that they would do anything, and she found herself sacrificed in their search for the Pure Number.
