Strange, Nako\'s post here is missing. The French revolution was from 1789 till 1799, however the style of clothing started more or less around 1775; it\'s called Baroque or Rococo. Here ya go: http://members.shaw.ca/Meridienne. This is Neale\'s site of the famous Neale\'s mohair wigs and my very favorite doll site depicting this style.
This Vitta Vera dress is something of a mish-mash of styles, but there are some clear Rococo elements:
You should take a look at these threads: 01 / 02 / & 03 as they are the dolls who took part in sewing contest on the "royal" thema for a big doll event in France There were several French-style outfits of a very good quality
I'd love to see photos of all the items that are part of the HauteDoll Marie Antoinette collection--the doll, the shoes, the under-dresses, the wigs, the dresses, etc.! And also any other bits of 18th. century costume you might have (for boys and girls). But please try to label your photos--if they are Haute Doll items or not. And who made the non-HauteDoll-DollHeart items! I just love the clothes and style of that period!!! --Oh, and since some of the styles are Regency-like--Please feel free to include that period, too (early 19th. C.). Thanks!!! --------------- Here's the Discussion Thread for the HauteDoll-Marie Antoinette-Peakswood sale, for reference: http://denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=129330&highlight=HauteDoll
Here are all mine! First - Elfdoll Lydia in the Dollmore gown that is a replica of one worn by Madame du Pompadour in a painting. The wig is a jpopdolls mohair one. Here is Lydia in the Dollheart/Dollectable outfit that is a replica of the movie costume. Net mask added by me, as was the fan. Same wig. She has the black Haute Doll shoes on, but you can't see them! Here she is with Volks Williams in a DollHeart outfit, tricorn made by me. Volks Luna in the Haute Doll pink dressing gown. The dressing gowns seem so regency to me, not Marie Antoinette. I think they are really sweet!
Volks School A/Customhouse body in the Haute Doll brown dress and wig: Same doll in the blonde wig that came with the black MA gown and the little green hat. Same doll in another Haute Doll dress and hat, wig is from ebay seller: Same doll, in yet another Haute Doll dress, panniers, corset with side pads, peach shoes, pink tricorn: Haute Doll Peekswood Sky doll with Haute Doll outfit, shoes and wig. Need to change my Juri's clothes, so I took some quick pictures of her in the Dollmore dress (slightly modded with different but similar ribbons--the original owner took them off--and more flowers), and (pinned up with little clips) a Neale wig! (yay!) 07-10-Hist-0012a372 by aprilllee, on Flickr 07-10-Hist-071a449 by aprilllee, on Flickr
I know, I was so excited when I realized that dress was from the painting of Madame de Pompdour! It's definitely not accurate in tailoring, but that's ok. I love that it's like the painting! Here are some simple people pannier directions that you can adapt to doll size. I cobbled together a pair from them. :-) http://www.ferdalump.com/panniers.html
I couldn't see a link. gaylejoy That's DollHeart's Romance of Venice outfit--it is sold out but sometimes they come up in the Marketplace... it's lovely--came with a great pair of boots, too! Here's my Volks Shiro in it-- 06-12-VolksStoreMeet-PC300004a449x by aprilllee, on Flickr
Looking for dolls in Rococo or 18th style clothing. Preferablly these brands: Souldoll Limhwa Supia Narin/Narae DOD anything but Volks. Thank you! -Theresa
I will be purchasing my first BJD soon and (if I get the guy) he seems to think that he was/is an Officer in the British Royal Navy in 1795! So going on that demand of his personality, I wanted to get him an outfit that was similiar to this: Which comes to two of my questions: 1. Are there any stores/seamstresses that sell/make specifically Napoleonic/Regency period outfits? 2. How much would a napoleonic outfit like the pictured one, cost? Also, I am interested in a period style wig for him that is similiar to this: But with a little pony tail at the nape of the neck. I was wondering if it would be at all possible to get something similar to the picture hair or am I ust dreaming lol? Thank you for helping out a n00b! -Ali
You're not dreaming...in fact, it is called 4D, my friend *laughs*: http://vier4d.com/shop/index.html?tch=detail&mcate=A101&goods=173 http://vier4d.com/shop/index.html?tch=detail&mcate=A103&goods=126
Finally tried on some of the HauteDoll items!!! One wig and one dress, so far... This was from the second round of orders. Irime, my ws CP Juri, modeling-- 07-10-Historical-043a449 by aprilllee, on Flickr I want to sew some off-white lace around the neckline and at the sleeves... and I need to find a necklace (I'm off at my Dad's house while my apartment is being worked on, so my doll stuff not at hand). Also need flowers and feather for the wig. I bought the little black tricorn from HD, but not sure if I really like it with this outfit... 07-10-Historical-0130aa449 by aprilllee, on Flickr (heheh... ignore the netting that's still on the top of the wig! I was too lazy to take it off!)
Ooh I love this thread!!! And I love Marie Antoinette, the style of dress in 1770-1780 France, and anything rococo. Here are my girls in their Marie Antoinette style gowns, all made by me. I wish I had some of the Dollheart gowns and accessories...oh, those shoooooes...!!!
Look at what I found!!! I went to the American Doll Store out here (there's a huge store at The Grove, a rather swanky outdoor complex next to the old Farmer's Market and former CBS lot in the Fairfax district of Los Angeles). I was looking for a SD-sized lute, which American Doll is selling as an 18thC Guitar, part of their colonial collection. To me, it's more of a Renaissance or earlier period instrument, but I suppose it may have hung on in the colonies until the 18thC! Anyway, I also spotted a corset and panniers under-garment set. It's for American Girl--and so is lots wider than an SD, but the string on the panniers can be shortened in the back, and the corset can also be taken in at the sides and perhaps at the back... I've just pinned them in the back for these quick photos, to show you-- I think these may be available from American Girl online... They were about $20 for the undergarments-- http://store.americangirl.com/agsho.../webTemplateId/3/uniqueId/213/saleGroupId/191 I haven't tried them on under a dress, yet, so I'm not sure how effective they are, shape-wise! I also should have just tried making my own--I'll probably try a full, hoop-like thing, for a fuller skirt out of nylon boning, but this was just too cute, so I had to have it!
Ooooh, finally got ahold of a copy of FDQ Magazine (currently on stands, "Winter" issue)... Here's a photo of the page--we were supposed to re-create a piece of artwork using our bjds and I chose one of Francois Boucher's portraits of Mme de Pompadour (since I had the Dollmore dress!). Mercy organized us--she and others have very different pieces in there (lots of fun!). 07-10-Historical-PompadourFDQ-001a600 by aprilllee, on Flickr Here's Boucher's painting-- 07-10-Hist-boucher-marquise-de-pompadour600 by aprilllee, on Flickr And of course I mentioned that she was wearing a Neale Mohair Wig in the caption/text! 07-10-Hist-60002a600 by aprilllee, on Flickr
Here's the latest addition.....Just finished putting it together this a.m. Mistress Sable de Noir-Sang Madmoiselle Skylar de Brulee with her new wig (much better) Off to the ball they go!!!!
Wow, so many pretty dresses. I have one to share; it's a dress I commissioned from Vitta-Vera to resemble the one from the movie, Marie Antoinette
Sorry, he's on a squishy cloth body, so he's a little wonky looking, but I have the Rudbeckia outfit from 4D. The armband doesn't come with it, I found it when I cleaned my room XD I had to hold him to keep him standing XD
Wig-wise, I could probably recommend a Monique Marianne (420) wig: https://secure.wavi.com/monique/cgi-bin/shopper?key=MT420&preadd=action My 70cm boy has two of them and I'd say they're probably long enough to tie a little ponytail at the back. Pics of Kotaro wearing one of the wigs (and a regency style outfit made by Gayle) in here: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v694/niki_the_dark/Misc/Precious%20Fings/Kotaro/Eighth%20Doctor/ Otherwise, maybe there are some curly mohair fur wigs out there that might be suitable...
So many pretty things, what a wonderful thread! Sylphide, I love your gowns. The green and pink is to die for! Caerbannog, what a wonderful replica of the movie gown, she looks just perfect. I've been working on doing a bit of wig-styling and just finished this 18th C men's for Soulkid Xell.
Yay... so many gorgeous photos! Here's my CP Juri '05 wearing one of the HauteDoll Marie Antoinette dresses. I've always thought the dress suited the Regency a bit more (with the Empire style and all), so she's with my Elf El wearing his fantasy-Napoleonic uniform from DollHeart-- 08-04-PamSD-113a449 by aprilllee, on Flickr
April - I agree about those two little Dollheart dresses looking more Regency - I think they're adorable. I loved everything about that Dollheart line of outfits! :-) Here are two of my girls in them:
I made my Brandon a copy of the uniform he wears at the end of Sense & Sensibility (the movie version with Hugh Grant & Emma Thompson; Rickman plays Brandon). Here's his outfit: I made everything except the sword & scabbard, including the boots & epaulettes: The pants are real leather, BTW, like they would have been authentically.
oh this is almost the exact thread im looking for!! i would like to see some boys in Regency-esque stuff thats not Military based if you got it... im especially interested in SD and MSD boys, but for the sake of the period, girls are welcome

Not historically accurate at all, but here's a Dollheart outfit (Legend of the Two) and Dollheart boots that is reminiscent of Regency Period Military designs-- 08-04-pamsd-1115az449 by aprilllee, on Flickr
hi there. i've been seeing a lot of girls around with rococo inspired styles... but what about the boys? i have plans for my soon-to-arrive boy, but i'd like to see some photos for inspiration... thanks.
While not perfect Rococo, I think you would have to go back a few Louis's to find this style, French court wear is not my obscure costuming speciality, hehe... It also has a hat and cape to go with it, though I have yet to find the right shoes that will fit my boy.
Well, it's not historically accurate as it is a strange mixture of Victorian and eighteenth century, but the coat shape in particular has that rococo thang going. It was custom made by Lordjestocost on here.
I just posted this in the gallery - my girls are in a bunch of 18thC gowns made by me. http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?p=4690324#post4690324
Here's my Versai in an amazing Dino Maroon gown. And here's one of the Haute Doll collection corsets:
There seems to be a lot of amazing Rococo dresses out there. Here are two Rococo inspired dresses I made for my Minifée Lishe. This is the prototype, it took somewhile to do the pattern and then handstitch the dress.
Here are the white Marie Antoinette Collection shoes. I have the purple ones too but haven't made an outfit they match yet.
i dont think the cravat is attached actually...but it is definitely a nice period-esque dollheart outfit - I have the SD girl version of it! I have this one http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=223853 from dollheart, but I have forgottten what it was actually called
Here are Florian and Nicolette from a recent meet-up. I made Nicolette's dress and the hat is just a teddy bear straw that I trimmed up: Florian is wearing the shirt, cummerbund and vest from his Vampire Red LE set. I drafted and made the breeches and bought the boots from a kind lady here on DOA. The coat is a Domuya suit coat a friend lent me for the occasion-oddly, it has tails, though it isn't a tux. The hat is a cheapo teddy bear top hat. In the future, I am going to make a better top hat and a more proper coat and vest. But this gave a Regency-esque look when I was short on time.
Ive managed (finally) to finish my french revelution chemise dress, it's based on a pattern from Norah Waugh The fabric is thin cotton, I can even se through it in daylight. Im not complete with the outfitt yet, I need a wig and a hat to match
I did this a while ago, excuse the lack of shoes It's supposed to be an historically accurate "sans-culotte" outfit. I designed it myself with the help of some history books and illustrations from that period.
