Choko doesn't have any idea that she was created rather than born and used to be part of a network of minds, as every other FAE is, connected to the Mother, Queen of the FAE. At one point, Choko finds a room full of forbidden technology and manages to "connect" to one computer by touching it, initiating a program that removes her from the network. After this, she stumbles onto another machine that slingshots her into this world.
