Gretel head faceup tutorial =D

Feb 3, 2007

    1. I took progression shots of my Obitsu Gretel head for a project, so I thought I'd share, and make a tutorial of it ^.^

Supplies for this project include... Liquitex paints(burnt sienna, burnt umber, unbleached titanium, taupe, black, and a mixed pink), Zoukei Mura pastel set no.3, a couple prismacolor pastels (two dark browns, and a black) Liquitex sealers, gloss and matte, Mr. Clean Eraser, Mr. Super Clear UV cut sealer, 20/0 brush, masking tape, exact-o knife and a couple of makeup brushes for the pastels.

      GRETEL HEAD GO!

Ahh.. the Gretel head.... so good X3. So get out your supplies, wash your hands, and it wouldnt hurt to give the head a wipe with the ol' Mr. Clean magic eraser.

With the burnt sienna, I gave the eyes a nice outline, but not completely encompassing the eye. Also, the inside of the mouth has been lined

Eyelashes added with taupe paint and PATIENCE XP, and I mixed a nice vibrant pink for the inside ledge of the eye, and added the upper eyelid

Now I've darkened the upper lid, and a bit on the lower lid towards the outside of the eye, with the burnt umber. I also darkened a few of the outer eyelashes to carry over the effect. Also, I added a teeeent bit of the burnt umber to the corners of the mouth

It's eyebrow time! A template has been cut out with masking tape, and with the larger brush, it's been blushed with a light amount of dark brown prismacolor pastel

      Peel off, and ta-da!

Here's the first stage of blush makeup. I've just used some of the zoukei mura pink-brown above the eyelid, and around the outsides of the eyes, and a bit lining the lower lashes. Also, I made a pink mixture of pastel for the lips. Build up liberally XD I suggest using the Mr. Super clear now.

More detail work! The same pink mixture used for the inside of the eye, was used in painting the lines in the lips. The taupe paint was used to give the eyebrows some hair. Here is also the second stage of makeup on the eyes; dark brown pastel has been added a little above the eyelid, but mostly on the outside corners, and on the lower lid. I sprayed another layer of MSC

Closeup + a wee bit of black on the corner of eye, and some unbleached titanium paint to highlight the inside corner and upper lid. AAAnd yet another layer of MSC

Look at that! All she needs is some sealer , eyes, wig, a body aaaaand.......

A lovely Gretel head! Gloss sealer was used on her lips, and around the eyehole, matte was used on the eyelids. She also has applicated upper eyelashes! You dont need glue for these, just trim, and apply with your sealer (generously). I suggest holding a corner down gently but firmly with a toothpick, unsharpened side of blade, etc, and painting on the sealer. Wait for it to dry, then paint down the rest!
