Islyn started out as a friend's tabletop RPG character; a mercenary captain from the world of 7th Sea. While they didn't exactly start out on the best foot, he and Adanna did eventually sort out their differences. He'd had a good reason for acting like an uncivilized scoundrel, after all...

In retrospect, he might admit that kidnapping the lady to get her out of the Inquisition's path may not have been the BEST plan he ever came up with, but it was certainly effective. Witch-hunters can't be reasoned with, but even they aren't willing to wade into a full-blown border war.
