Reason for choice:

For the face, I found her large eyes, plump cheeks, and small smiling lips perfect for the character. For the body, I wanted something relatively flexible and with more fullness in the bust.

In Chobits, Chi was found in the trash and brought home by a college prep student, Hideki. When she was booted up, "chi" was the only thing she could say. Finding it cute, Hideki picked this as her name.

Chi, originally named Elda, was a persocom (or a humanoid computer) built by the creator or persocoms for his wife (who was unable to have children of her own) and for his first Persocom daughter, Freya, to have a playmate and companion to distract her from her looming depression. When Freya eventually broke down from a "broken heart" due to a consequence of her programming, Elda decided to transfer her sister's memory into her own system as a way to preserve her. Yet in the process, her own memories were lost. Just before "Elda" died for good, she begged her parents to put her somewhere far away and give her the chance to find her "someone just for her" without making the same mistakes that Freya had succumbed to. Her parents obeyed her final wishes and reprogrammed her with a special ability before leaving her in an alleyway for someone to find. After possibly being passed to several different hands, a prep-college student named Hideki came upon the persocom and, took her home, completely unaware of her powers and her ability to fall in love.

Chi has the overall disposition of a child and tends to speak in third person. She is installed with a program that allows her to learn and be taught, so she tends to absorb the things around her and mimic the actions of others. She is naive and gullible, unable to see danger or malicious intentions of others, but is endlessly selfless and kind. She would go to any length to makes others--particularly Hideki--happy, though sometimes this does get her in trouble. Nonetheless, she is always learning, and especially with Freya's consciousness inside her, she is always discovering new things about the world and about herself.
